My race....

Yeap, the race tt i've been waiting for all yr is finally over!
Had to skip e banana ritual tis morn as Mum unwittingly ate e last banana, boo!
She insisted on slathering sunblock lotion all over my body cuz as usual, her biggest fear wud be tt of me morphing into some kinda sunroasted pig...

0415: Rise n shine! Yawnz....took my usual brekkie of wholemeal tuna sandwich n coffee

0600: Fastening my race chip to my Asics whilst M n I pinned our no tags to our jerseys.

0630: Gave him a thumpy handshake, wished him gd luck for e run n surrounded by throngs of runners, loud music n veri high spirits, e horn sounded n off we go!

1-10km: conservative start...was concentrating on jus maintaining my pace..met Ching Ling and Shizhi at e 8km mark

10-15km: Started to weave thr e runners, overtaking whenever I cud...

15-18km: Starting to tire... sun's getting real hot, thank gawd for Mum n her sunblock lotion!

18-19km: Nearly pulled my muscle

19-20km: There's still 1 km left?? e volunteers were handing out bananas n i stupidly took one, looking veri unglam as i ploughed on..

20-21km: It's gonna end! I can't believe it! All e way to the finish!

21km: Yipeee!!

In e end, this half marthie was easier than I had expected....I reached at 841 hrs so estimated time i took shud be 2 hrs 10 mins....
M took 1 hr 55 mins...whilst Mgr took 3 hrs 25 mins..
I've taken part in 3 runs this yr, with each consecutive run increasing in intensity..
The New Balance Real Run (10km)
Sheares Bridge mini marathon (12km)
Standchart Half marathon (21km)

n it's weird, though e mileage is increasing, i find e runs easier to manage n this shud be my most enjoyable run to date...
n hehz, it was weird, i realise whenever I line up to start a run, I always feel veri peaceful at heart n beautiful thoughts will always come to mind..
n almost always, I'll hv a vision of finding someone who shares e passion for running as well, settle down with him n for our honeymoon, we'll travel to the US and take part in a full marathon as a pledge to go the distance with each other forever...
Awwwww...hw sweet..hahaha..

It muz be those endorphins tt tis long run has unleashed in me, i'm feeling veri happy.
LMT did veri well for his full marathon too, glad for him....:-)
I kept tt promise I made 8 mths ago, to cheer for him at e finishing line when he completes e full marathon n I did.

I'll be taking part in e full marathon next yr,to fulfil my goal of completing a full marathon b4 e age of 25...
M n I were devising training strategies the other day, we hope to squeeze in a long run every Sat...
I guess I'll conc on recovery for 1 wk first embarking on e training prog...there's still one whole yr, anyway..

Till next yr then!
