Wadever that can go wrong went wrong...
Missed my Sat run yest for 3 consecutive wks..cuz i was so exhausted i flopped n slept frm 3 plus till 8 plus..yeah, 5 hrs, woke up, ate dinner n promptly went back to sleep at 9 plus till e next morn 830am...
So decided i had to workout extra hard today but...everything jus went wrong..
Cud nt find my jumprope....urrggghhh
Decided to hit e gym, cud nt locate my gym pants...Grrrrr.....
Finally decided to go run , figured it wud be gd training since i need to ged used to e heat n humidity...
Hv nt run in broad daylight since e last time i ran at e NUS track at 12...
Shunned e canal n decided to run on e rd
It was tiring, e heat, e humidity, e scorching sun, 3 stray dogs, exhaust fumes emitting vehicles, muddy trails, dusty rds..
Reached Bukit Batok...n saw threatening skies plus dark clouds...sighhhh...
Gd thing i brought my ezylink, hopped onto e bus in a veri unglam fashion.
The moment i boarded e bus, it started pouring cats n dogs...
Reached my stop, had to brave e rain cuz there was no shelter available n it was so fun tt i scorned e shelter ltr n ran e rest of e way hm.
Loved running in e rain, it was jus so liberating n refreshing to feel e cool raindrops on one's bare skin, running agst e wind, feeling e rain agst e face.
Gt rid of much of my Sat lethargy, washed away some of my troubles too..
Onli thing tt sucked was tt my Asics r soaked wet n unless i wanna run barefoot in e evening, i dun see hw a run ltr wud be possible.
Std Chart marthie registration opened on fri..
M has oredi signed up for it, i hven't even signed up for e New Balance yet, i better ged down to signing up for both esp since New Balance registration ends end of July.
M proposed training tog for both runs sometime soon, heard tt e Real Run Sentosa trail is a pwetty tough stretch, wud do gd to go recce tog soon.
Pam thinks I think too much, perhaps tt's true.
Right now, I dun wish to think abt anything else other than my work, runs n frens.
Though, hiakzz, i've been sacrificing my runs recently for chilling out with the 2A'ers...
Clubbing with them n some of Jimmy's US frens tis Fri....original plan was Double 0 bt thinkin of New Asia Bar instead since a few of us will be in workwear.
N rec news tt our 2A form teacher Ms Patricia Leong is back in Spore for a short stint!
Great! Will get to see my all-time fave tchr at a full fledged 2A gathering next mth..can't wait!
Recently, Gabs passed me some Runners World mag tt a male colleague subscribed to n been poring over them during lunchie..
Great runspiration, i muz say...
n was reallie surprised n pleased when I found one article tt listed the world's toughest marathons to run, they say it's for sadomasochistic runners, haha...
n e Std Chart marathon was 1 of e 5! cuz it was in terms of e heat n humidity..n it ranked alongside toughies like marathons which cut across the world's hottest place, Death Valley as well as one marathon tt cut thr a volcano n other African desert marathons.
According to e article, the Std Chart marathon is e closest to e equator n hence equatorial conditions prevailed such as e intense heat n humidity...
Then, read in The KOrea Herald abt ultramarathoners...n my jaw literally dropped..
The longest ultramarathon is in Korea, a 622 km stretch n e runners run frm day till nite n r disqualified if they fail to clock 100km within 24hrs.
I've always wondered why Spore doesn't org a nitetime marathon, US has tons of it!
There's one called e Moonlight Marathon n runners start off at nite n wear neon wristbands to make them visible to e traffic..,they ged to enjoy a beautiful full moon, cool, crisp nite air n the tranquility of e nite...
n after their run, they ged to party away at a postrun party..hw much fun tt is...
Better go bath nw, else i may catch a chill...sigh...e wkend's over jus lidat
Realise I enjoy thurs n fri more than e actual wkend itself cuz much of e fun is in looking fwd to sthg rather than tt thing itself cuz expectations hv a habit of exceeding itself...
n i've learnt tt so well..perhaps, too well..
